Can I be protected from IP spoofing by using a VPN?

Asked 2 years ago

Hello. I have heard from a friend that hackers are able to spoof trusted IP addresses in order to obtain access into a computer network. Apparently this is called IP spoofing. As far as I know, VPNs are able to provide anonymous IP addresses to hide an IP address. But does anyone know if VPNs protect against IP spoofing? TYIA.

IP spoofing is when hackers manipulate IP addresses similar to yours to gain access to sensitive data. Using a VPN may not have a direct impact on stopping spoofing. However, it can still prevent breaches by faking your actual IP. Once the hacker has been restricted from accessing the original IP, they can never replicate your IP for spoofing.
