Does using a VPN protect against attacks caused by SMB vulnerabilities?

Asked 2 years ago

Hi there. I currently use applications that require SMB Protocol. However, I am concerned about continuing to use these applications, as I have heard that there are cyber attacks which arise out of a result of vulnerabilities with SMB Protocol. Does anyone know if a VPN is useful in protecting against attacks which result from these vulnerabilities? TYIA.

SMB allows computers to communicate and share resources. However, this unprotected transfer can create problems and expose the data to vulnerabilities. VPN is an ideal solution to keep all the resources safe. It uses encryption to create a safe tunnel between the transfer devices. For instance, the NordLayer uses high-end AES-256-bit encryption making it nearly impossible to manipulate and breach the data.
