Does using a VPN prevent a Pysa ransomware attack?

Asked 2 years ago

Hi there. I am a Director of a healthcare provider who is looking for solutions to protect patient data. This is particularly due to the threat that ransomware attacks such as Pysa pose which could lead to fatalities. However, I am unsure if a VPN offers protection against this type of attack due to the fact that attackers use multiple types of encryption. Does anyone know if a VPN protects against Pysa ransomware attacks? TYIA.

Pysa ransomware is malware that encrypts your files and then asks for payment in exchange for the decryption key. The ransomware can hold your files hostage until you pay up. The good news is that Pysa ransomware can be easily blocked using a VPN, stopping it from encrypting your files and displaying any ransom messages. If you want to access the internet while still keeping your files and data secured, VPN is an excellent way to do it.
