Hackers leak online the biggest password compilation of all time, dubbed RockYou2021; it contains over 8.4 billion passwords, as determined by CyberNews researchers.
The TXT file with leaked passwords is about 100 GB in size and was posted on a popular hacker forum.
The leaked passwords are 6-20 characters long with non-ASCII characters and white spaces removed. According to the author, the compilation contains 82 billion passwords.
However, according to a CyberNews researchers who ran some tests, the number of unique entries in the database was slightly over eight million.
The compilation was dubbed ‘RockYou2021’ by the forum user presumably in reference to the infamous RockYou data breach in 2009. That collection included over 3.2 billion passwords, which were leaked from various databases. The RockYou2021 is 262 times bigger than the now second-biggest Compilation of Many Breaches (COMB). With the number of people online reaching about 4.7 billion, it’s safe to say that the passwords of everyone were affected by the 2021 compilation.

By combining 8.4 billion usernames and email addresses of the RockYou2021 collection with compromised passwords and from other breach compilations attackers can create a dictionary of usernames and passwords and conduct spray attacks against millions of accounts.
If you suspect that your passwords were included in the RockIt2021 Collection, we recommend that you watch out for suspicious emails and texts and do not click on any links in such emails.
