IBM Adds New Services To Its Cloud Security Portfolio

IBM on Wednesday announced new services that leverage AI and automation. The new services are meant to help enterprises identify and prioritize risks and respond to potential threats across cloud environments, and get insights into their broader security operations.

Thanks to the new suite of security services, enterprises that have dispersed hybrid cloud environments now can apply a unified security approach to all their infrastructure. IBM said the expanded Security Services for Cloud portfolio will allow companies to unify and simplify cloud security across ecosystems.

Available starting March 24, the new cloud services brought together IBM and third-party technologies and cloud environments, such as IBM Cloud, AWS, Google Cloud, and Microsoft Azure.

The new and enhanced services include: Cloud Native Security Services, Cloud Security Posture Management (CSPM), Container Security, IBM Managed Security Services, and Cloud Security Strategy.

AI and automation that the new services leverage will help enterprises identify and prioritize risks and respond to potential threats across these cloud environments, IBM said.

“Cloud security can appear daunting, with defenders facing an expansive attack surface, shared responsibility models and rapidly evolving cloud platforms and tools,” said Vikram Chhabra, Global Director of Offering Management and Strategy for IBM Security Services.

Chhabra no one can assume legacy security approaches will work in the new operating model of the hybrid cloud era. Security should be modernized specifically for this era, “with a strategy based on zero trust principles that bring together context, collaboration, and visibility across any cloud environment.”

IBM added to the security portfolio new advisory and managed security services that aim to alert the user about cloud misconfigurations and potential risks and threats.

IBM is also rolling out integration with IBM Security X-Force Red, its vulnerability management product, which will identify container-related vulnerabilities in order to help with remediation.
