Should I clear my cache before connecting to a VPN server?

Asked 2 years ago

Hi, I just downloaded a VPN. However, I want to know if I should clear all the cache and cookies my PC has collected before I connect. Would it make it less easy for anyone to determine my location, or wouldn't it matter?

If your primary concerns are with security, then cache-clearing is highly recommended. Having cache or cookies won't hinder the VPNs usage, but it will make you anonymous while browsing. If you've already visited a website and accepted cookies from it, the website's server might recognize your computer because of the cookies - even if you're using a VPN. So, if you want to remain fully anonymous, consider clearing your cache and cookies before activating your VPN.
