Would a VPN surpass firewall rules for streaming music?

Asked 2 years ago

Hi, our school has blocked anyone from being able to stream music on the network connection. Could using a VPN to encrypt my network and hide my IP address be sufficient to get passed the firewall?

If the firewall is set on your school's router, then you won't be able to use a firewall to stream music. This is because the firewall will see your VPN connection, but treat it just like any other computer from the network. A solution would be using a network that isn't from your school.
