How can I spot a fake VPN app?

Asked 2 years ago

Hey there. I have received advice to look out for fake VPN apps on the app store, as these are supposedly developed by hackers in an attempt to find personal information on one's device. However, aside from the fact that there are usually bad reviews written underneath these fake apps, I do not know what else to look out for in order to spot them. Any tips on how to spot these apps?

People are always looking for a way to encrypt their internet activity and hide their IP address, but not all VPNs are created equal. The best VPNs use military-grade encryption and security protocols that are easy to use, but they also have features that allow you to connect with anyone in the world with no problem.

Another great way to spot a fake VPN is through its privacy policy. Check the app's policy for details about how much information it collects about you, including your IP address, device type, operating system, traffic data, etc.
