Can I use a VPN to prevent swatting?

Hello. I am an active user in gaming forums, however, I have heard that swatting attacks can happen to users in these forums based on the fact that swatters can trace IP addresses of those who post in the forums. Therefore, I am wondering if a VPN would help me to avoid a swatting attack by hiding my IP address? Any insights would be appreciated, thanks.

It is correct that prohibiting data sharing on gaming forums isn't enough to prevent swatting. Hackers can use your IP address and leak your information through that. Therefore, you need external manipulation to hide your IP address, and VPN does that ideally. Moreover, a premium VPN client can help increase your security through military-grade encryption.
